Crowborough Opticians
At Crowborough Opticians, we want you to understand your eyes, which is why we're dedicated to offering you the best service from the most dedicated professionals. Owner Matthew Smee has 33 years' experience in optometry, and uses his extensive background to provide you with a broad range of services catering to all age groups. A long overdue review about my recent experience at Crowborough Opticians.

The service was one of a kind and rare, the type you do not really experience nowadays! I am a glass-wearer for most of my life and had so much trouble to find suitable and well fitting frames with adequately thinned lenses. The team (with Anne (hope I remember the name well) helping me all way through) was honest, not trying to sell but guided me gently to find the best glasses, and made the whole experience so much better than usually is.

Thank you so much for everything. Surely will return if I need another pair! Excellent Service all round! Friendly and made you feel extremely welcome!
Services
Maintain healthy vision for as long as possible with our extensive array of eye care services.
Your eyes are our priority.
We've spent decades honing our skills to offer you the most professional and dedicated array of services on the market.
We're an independent opticians, and we use that license to offer you the quality and commitment you might not receive at a larger practice.
Each of our services is undertaken with the latest technology, including OCT scanning equipment and retinal photography (even for home visits).
Over 30% of all patients suffer from some type of blepharitis symptoms.
BlephEx is a new, in-office procedure that allows the clinician to take an active role in treating blepharitis.
BlephEx reduces scurf and bacterial debris, the main causes of inflammatory lid disease, and improves the overall health of the eyelid.
Patients will finally enjoy a life free from the chronic and irritating symptoms associated with blepharitis.
The BlephEx treatment is well tolerated and only takes a few minutes to perform.
If a child has a problem with their sight which isn't addressed by age seven or eight, they could suffer from reduced vision for the rest of their life.
That's why we recommend that your child has their eyes tested at three years of age, then once every year after that.
This will allow us to be proactive should any sight problems arise, and to get your child into the healthy habit of visiting your local opticians regularly.
Our clinic is open to children from Crowborough and all surrounding areas, including Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Mayfield, Heathfield and further afield.
We don't skimp on our eye examinations, which is why a test with us will last between 30 and 40 minutes.
With the luxury of time on our side, we'll be able to provide you with a comprehensive test and discuss its results with you, allowing you to understand it fully and make informed decisions about your sight.
Every step of our process is designed to help you find the eye care that's right for you, hence our commitment to hi-tech equipment such as OCT machines (which will help us to thoroughly check the back of your eye) and low vision aids for anyone who struggles with mobility because of their sight.
For some people, a busy schedule often means that they struggle to find the time to visit the opticians, but at Crowborough Opticians, we take the hassle out of taking care of your eyes and happily come to you.
Mobility issues affect many of our clients and, for many, leaving the house to visit us can be a painful or even impossible struggle.
Whether age- or health-related, we can visit your home and provide you with a comprehensive eye assessment and a range of over 200 frames to choose from.
We have more than 15 years of experience when it comes to home visits, and have engineered a number of ways to bring all the benefits of an eye examination into your front room.
