Jones & Jones Optometrists
Jones & Jones is a family run optometry practice in Barry in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan. Lead by Dr Adrian Jones, we pride ourselves on clinical excellence, whilst providing high quality eyewear at very competitive prices. Our optometrists are highly skilled and experienced, often with post graduate diplomas and a background in clinical research, teaching and hospital practice.

This enables us to deliver a very high standard of eyecare that is tailored to your individual needs.
Services
We tailor the sight test to meet the individual needs of our patients, not all tests are suitable for all patients.
This is also available to eligible patients on the NHS.
Detailed history will be taken to enable specific areas to be concentrated on, this will include your medical history, current medications (please bring a copy of your prescription with you), previous ophthalmic history, your family ophthalmic history as well as any hobbies, sports and jobs you might do.
Assessment of your vision with and without any glasses you may already have.
Unexpected eye problems can often present themselves at the most inconvenient moment.
In Wales we are lucky enough to have the Primary Eyecare Acute Referral Scheme (PEARS) which is backed by the Welsh Assembly that provides NHS access to optometrists for assessment.
You have an eye problem that occurred suddenly (acutely) and you think it requires urgent or immediate attention.
Should you require any treatment, this can often be provided without the need to refer you to the hospital eye clinic or GP.
The basic Sight Test is only a minimum standard for the testing of sight that dates back to the early days of the health service.
Since then medical eyecare has move forward significantly allowing us to diagnosis and treat many more conditions than ever before.
Unfortunately, we believe that a basic Sight Test is only really aimed at detecting abnormalities of the eyes and is not sufficiently detailed to provide a high level diagnostic precision required to detect subtle changes that occur in the earliest stages of most eye disease.
Glaucoma is the name given to a group of conditions in which the optic nerve suffers a characteristic form of damage at the back of the eye which is often associated with a raised level of intraocular pressure.
It can cause irreversible vision loss if left untreated.
Fortunately glaucoma is easily treated with eye drops if diagnosed early but despite this it is still one of the biggest causes of blindness in the developed World.
If you are concerned about glaucoma or have been identified as being at risk we can provide a NICE compliant diagnostic examination performed by Dr Adrian Jones who holds the College of Optometrists Higher Diploma in Glaucoma which will provide you with a diagnosis and treatment if required.
Whether you wear daily disposables or need something more complicated we have the knowledge, experience and technology to achieve successful, comfortable contact lens wear for you.
As we are not tied to any particular brand or manufacturer we are able to order the exact contact lens that best suits your eyes and needs.
For patients that require complex lens fitting we can arrange access to state of the art computerised corneal mapping equipment.
Drawing on experience from the hospital eye service and refractive surgery industry our aim is to fit anyone that wants contact lenses, so no matter how complex your prescription we can probably fit you with high performance contact lenses to suit your daily lifestyle.
