I LOVE my work. When people are thrilled with their new glasses and can see clearly I feel a great sense of satisfaction. I feel mine is almost a miraculous profession; with a small piece of plastic held in front of or in the eye I can enable people to see, a sense we all too easily take for granted.
Obviously I trained long and hard to achieve my qualifications and I still study and strive for excellence in all I do, but I think what I most enjoy is meeting people- welcoming new clients to the practice or seeing long-established patients who have become friends.I particularly enjoy seeing children. We routinely start seeing them young, at 18 months or so.
As they gain confidence and get used to us over the years we can be sure that by the time they start school they can see well, whether they need glasses to achieve that or not. We have a dedicated toy-area and returning children immediately make a bee-line for it.; I also enjoy my domiciliary days when I visit people in their own homes.

The eye examination varies according to your individual needs, but basically to start with we will have a friendly discussion with you about why you want your eyes tested and ask you some questions about your general and eye health, your family health history and your occupation and hobbies and interests.
We then check your vision and do some tests to see how well your eyes work together.
We check your peripheral sight and examine the outside and inside of your eye using special equipment.
We then test the actual sight and discuss the results with you, answering any questions you have and discussing your options.

We fit premium contact lenses, which allow you to see clearly and comfortably at all distances all day.
Contact lens development has changed enormously in the last few years and we are able to fit many more eyes than was possible in the past, so even if you have been previously told that you are not suitable for contact lens wear, there may well be lenses that are perfect for your needs.
We fit daily and monthly disposable soft lenses, and all sorts of specialist lenses also.
If you need an eye examination, we start with our usual thorough eye examination, but if you have an up-to-date spectacle prescription we can start from there.
