Services
Specs Direct was established in 1985 and is a progressive and successful independent company with considerable experience within the optical business.
We are a growing and well established business based in Whitefield, Manchester with a loyal, local and countrywide customer base.
We are a family run business who believe in providing top quality customer service and top quality spectacles & lenses, giving our customers value for money.
A high percentage of our customers have been with us for a number of years and a high percentage of new customers have been through recommendations from our existing customers.
If you are a new patient with us all we ask is for you to bring a copy of your last prescription or the current glasses you are wearing.
This is so we can see what prescription you are wearing, therefore informing us how much your eyes have changed since your last test and if a new pair of glasses or updated prescription is required following your eye test.
Your Appointment will start with some general health questions.
Our optician will discuss with you the reason for your appointment, such as vision worries, headaches or needing new glasses etc.
Contact Lenses give you the freedom to have excellent vision without the constraints of glasses.
If your interested in trying contact lenses you will need to book a contact lens assessment with our optician, this appointment will assess your eyes to ensure your suitability for contact lenses.
During the assessment you will be fitted with contact lenses and your vision will be checked wearing them, following this you will then be given tuition on handling and wearing your new lenses.
We know that practice makes perfect so we will give you five pairs of dailies or one pair of monthly lenses to take home, and perfect taking them in and out until your next check, absolutely FREE.
Some eye conditions if left untreated can become major health issues, they can also be a sign of underlying health problems such as diabetes which is why regular eye tests and health checks are important.
Hyperopia is the term used for long sightedness.
If you are Hyperopic; looking at objects up close will appear blurry however objects in the distance will be clear.
It is caused by imperfections in the eyeball such as the eyeball being too short or the cornea is too flat.
Our optometrist will be able to determine if you suffer from Hyperopia following an eye test, this will also tell us what corrective prescription you need.
