Services
Gilbert Opticians has been established here in Worksop for over 50 years, originally started by Mr Hebditch in the 1940's then later taken over by Mr R.N Matthews, becoming R.N Matthews Optician.
In 1976 Mr Gilbert, who is the current Optometrist, joined Mr Matthews in the partnership.
The name then became Matthews and Gilbert Opticians, and traded under that name for over 20 years.
In 1984 Mr Matthews retired and Mr Gilbert became sole owner of the practice, but continued to trade under the valued name of Matthews and Gilbert Opticians.
The eye examination is a full health check for your eyes.
It will detect any sight problems e.g.
An examination also looks for indications of general health conditions such as diabetes or hypertension which can also affect the eye.
Having your vision corrected will help you make the most of everyday life, giving you the best vision possible.

Healthy eyes and vision are a critical part of a child's development and education.
It's easy to assume your child can see properly, but sight can change quickly as the eye grows, and young children in particular may not understand or recognise that anything is wrong.
Children can have their eyes tested at any age, even if they cannot read, and a minimum yearly examination to ensure the continuing development of their eyes.
Most importantly we like to ensure that children are happy, comfortable and relaxed when they are in our practice, making an examination enjoyable.
A rather worrying 41 per cent of adults aged 40 to 75 have noticed a deterioration in their eyesight, but done nothing about it, according to a recent survey for the Simplyhealth Advisory Research Panel.
It's easy to neglect your eyes because they rarely hurt when there's a problem.
Having an eye test won't just tell you if you need new glasses or a change of prescription - it's also an important eye health check.
It can spot many general health problems and early signs of eye conditions before you're aware of any symptoms, many of which can be treated if found early enough.
Visual Display Unit (VDU) & Display Screen Equipment (DSE) users have different visual needs than other people.
Their vision is under continuous strain from using computers and other similar equipment for extended periods of time.
The focusing distance is much closer than everyday use.
Eye problems caused by computer use fall under the heading screen fatigue or computer vision syndrome (CVS).
It isn't one specific problem.
Instead, it includes a whole range of eye strain, pain, discomfort and dry eye.
