Services
Patricia Hayselden & Partners is a long-standing practice (formerly L Hubbard Opticians), with an excellent local reputation and friendly staff who are committed to finding the right solutions for people's visual problems.
Most of our patients come to us by personal recommendation.
In addition to our fully qualified and accredited optometric staff, we have qualified dispensers, registered with the General Optical Council, in all our locations.
Our investment in qualified, experienced and educated staff means that you can be confident of our standard of service and of a result that is both professional and just right for you.
Our eyesight usually changes and deteriorates very gradually throughout life, such that we don't immediately notice when our sight is not quite as good as it should be.
As with our body generally, our eyesight can be something we take for granted, until a sudden or drastic change occurs.
Vision assessment - In the eye examination, your eyes' quality of vision and corrective prescription are measured and compared to previous results.
From these measurements, the optometrist can give professional recommendations to you, to help you get the clearest possible vision.
As everyone's eyesight is different, we tailor the eye examination to your individual circumstances.
We understand that your eyesight is precious so we take your eyecare seriously.
Your eye examination will probably commence with History and Symptoms - a question and answer session, so that the optometrist can get to know about you and your eyes.
This will include the main reasons for requesting the appointment, any past eye history for both yourself and your blood-relatives (eye conditions are often hereditary) and discussing your general health and medications (some eye conditions are health related).
The eye examination not only measures your prescription (and the powers of corrective lenses for you, if needed).
It's also where sight conditions can be detected early, increasing the likelihood of successful treatment.
We strongly recommend our Premium examination (40 minutes) which includes retinal photography, so that all aspects of your eye health can be examined in detail, screening for many conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, high blood pressure, diabetes and macular degeneration (dry or wet).
Spectacles are a convenient and quick way of correcting vision and protecting the eyes.
They are easy to put on and take off, and easy to store.
With a massive selection of frames available in a huge array of styles, colours and materials, you're likely to find frames to suit you.
Advancements in materials technology, for both lenses and frames, have helped to make spectacles lighter, more durable and more comfortable.
Reading and other close work - these can be special purpose spectacles, for a particular task such as sewing, or part of the prescription of a multi-focal pair, where a larger lens area is required, such as for reading in bed or playing the piano.
