Services
Eye examinations are a series of tests to check your vision as well as the health and function of your eyes.
Regular eye tests are very important and should be part of your routine health care.
An eye examination can detect many things, including refractive errors requiring glasses, as well as other conditions such as Diabetes, Glaucoma, Hypertension, Cataract and Macular Degeneration and High Blood Pressure to name a few.
You may qualify for a free sight test if you are over 60, under 19 and in full time education, if you receive benefits, if you suffer from glaucoma, if you are over 40 and have a close relative with glaucoma or if you are diabetic.
We have an extensive frame selection.
Free frames are available to all when purchasing new lenses or when using an NHS voucher towards new spectacles.
With budget frames starting from 10.00 and designer frames up to 400.00, we really do cater for everyone's needs.
Our fully trained staff will advise you on the best frame styles and lenses to suit your needs.
Our video imaging system allows you to view yourself in any frame to help with your selection.
Choosing the best lens for your personal needs is very important.
Here at Paul Moore Opticians we are committed to helping you make the right choice for you, based on your lifestyle, hobbies and budget.
Bifocals are lenses with two distinct optical powers, they usually incorporate both your distance and reading correction.
Bifocals can also be used for a VDU and reading prescription.
A varifocal lens incorporates your distance, intermediate and reading correction all in one lens.
The lens power is graduated through the lens starting at your distance prescription at the top of your lens to your full reading prescription at the bottom.
Safety spectacles are specialised devices designed to provide comfort and eye protection against dust, flying particles, UV and IR while working or doing your favourite hobby.
All our safety frames and lenses are approved to British standards and appropriately kitemarked.
Our staff will discuss with you what your safety requirements are (whether using safety glasses for work or for a particular hobby) so that your eyes are fully protected.
We have examples of safety frames for you to look at, before ordering.
A full consultation, trial and 'fitting' is provided for anyone wishing to try contact lenses to ensure they are suitable.
Insertion, removal, lens cleaning and hygiene lessons are provided before you take your lenses home.
Your optician will provide you with information as to which contact lens type will be best for you, based on your prescription, lifestyle, hobbies and budget.
Once you become a contact-lens wearer you must have regular contact lens check-ups in addition to your sight test.
This aftercare is to ensure your eyes stay healthy and that your contact lenses are still suitable for you and are not damaging your eyes.
