Simon Berry Optometrist
Thank you for visiting Simon Berry Optometrist, and a warm welcome to our website. Our professional independent eyecare practice provides a friendly, customer-focused service to the fantastic people in our local community, but offers a diverse range of services that people from all over the world come to our practice for. Otherwise known as Optical Coherence Tomography Scanning, the OCT scan involves a low-powered light scanning the back of your eye.

In 2017, Simon's campaign for changing the regulation around special facial characteristics results in the Vision Pioneer Campaigner of the Year Award. Simon wanted all his patients, especially children with Down Syndrome, to be able to receive a better level of service, and for this practice to be adopted as widely as possible, to help as many people receive the level of optometry service they need.
Services
We believe in making your life and eye health as simple as possible, so we keep our core principles as concise as possible.
Everything we do, even the most intricate and unusually-named processes, is designed to follow three key fundamentals of our business, which we work towards every single day.
To see for yourself how we stick to this simple guide, day in, day out, get in touch with us today and make an appointment.
And if you think of a way that we can deliver our core principles even more efficiently, you're more than welcome to let us know.
Behind everything we do is a dedicated team of experience, expertise, professionalism and character.
Our friendly, proficient personnel are always here to help - and here's a little bit about every member of the Simon Berry family.
Simon has been a member of the College of Optometrists, and a part-time Specialist Optometrist at Sunderland Eye Infirmary since 1996.
He is also a member of the Clinical Research Network, member of the Association of Optometrists, and current editor of the online academic journal Clinical Optometry.
For nearly 20 years, the people at our independent Durham optometrists have been dedicated to providing the most professional, customer-focused service possible.
We regularly adapt what we do to meet your needs, by undertaking extra training, research, and ensuring we have the most advanced equipment available in our practice.
We've designed our practice to be wheelchair friendly, an embracing environment for children and people with disabilities, and open to people from all walks of life.
And we continue to learn, grow and adapt every day, just like you.
Within our Durham practice, you can connect with a range of professional, customer-focused optometry and health-check services for you and your family.
With NHS entitlement available on certain services, and access to specialist assessments and equipment, all you need to do is get in touch and book an appointment.
We appreciate that every employer and employee is different, and so offer a flexible service that's tailored to you.
Choose from a range of services, including VDU spectacles, and ensure that the ocular health of your workforce is in safe, professional hands.
We believe in offering our registered patients the best possible service and in doing so, are offering you the opportunity to upload an image of your eye complaint or picture of your broken glasses, in advance of coming into the practice.
By doing so, it can help speed up your appointment time and could lead to an early diagnosis of the problem you're experiencing, or a quicker repair of your glasses.
Registered patients can also use this facility to re-order contact lenses.
