Walford & Round
Our family-owned business has all the skills, knowledge and expertise needed to look after your family's eyesight. Choosing an optician is an important decision. Your sight is perhaps your most important sense - not only do you rely on it on a daily basis, but it also forms the foundation of most of your memories. So when it comes to your eye care, you want to know you're in the hands of trusted professionals who have a reputation for skill and expertise.

At Walford & Round Opticians, that's exactly what you'll find. We've been in business since 1927, during which time the practice has passed down the generations but always remained in the family. We operate from four practices within the West Midlands where you will experience complete continuity of care, with the same Optometrist assisting you from your initial examination through to frame selection and adjustments where necessary.

Our Optometrists are all registered with the General Optical Council, as required by law, so you can be sure that your eyes will be taken care of by fully qualified and approved professionals.
Services
If you are visiting us by car, there is pay-and-display parking available on North and South Bar, and also in the NCP car park off Calthorpe Street.
The practice itself can be found at the upper end of the High Street - it will be on your left, next to Wigwam estate agents, if you're walking downhill from Banbury Cross.
Fundus (retinal) photography - digital photographs of the backs of your eyes.
This provides a permanent record of the health of your eyes, and enables any changes to be monitored over time.
This is especially useful for conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, glaucoma and macular degeneration, which do demonstrate subtle changes as the condition progresses.
A measurement of your prescription and comparison to your existing glasses to determine whether a new prescription is necessary.
An extended examination of your visual field (peripheral vision), to test for signs of glaucoma and other conditions.
Perfect vision does not mean healthy eyes - It is easy to forget about your eye health when you have perfect vision.
You may be unaware of a disease in your eye until you begin having vision problems - this can often mean that significant, possibly irreversible, damage to your eye has already occurred.
Early detection and rapid referral for treatment are key to saving sight - One in two cases of sight loss can be avoided through early detection and receiving the right treatment at the right time.
Fitting lenses for Ortho-Keratology is a more complex process than fitting a pair of conventional contact lenses.
Each lens is custom made to suit both the individual shape of your cornea and also the prescription that is going to be corrected.
This fitting process requires a number of appointments as detailed below.
Initial Assessment - In addition to a full sight test, your eyes will be assessed on a microscope to ensure they are healthy before contact lens wear begins.
After this a 3D map of the cornea will be taken to enable lenses to be manufactured to your exact requirements.
