Allport Ophthalmic Opticians
Wales has now entered the Amber Phase of the pandemic. We are now open on slightly reduced hours and with social distancing measures still in place. This means that we will have a "closed door" and strict "appointments only" policy. Appointments are being made on a "needs basis." This means that we are prioritising all high risk groups (Glaucoma, Diabetes etc) and those with problems either with their eyes, vision or spectacles.

Routine eye examinations for patients with no problems are still being delayed until the green phase is reached. We will be slowly getting in touch with everyone but in the meantime, if you have any problems at all then phone us on 01248 724373 \ 750245 or fill in the form on our Contact Us page. Whilst we are in the amber phase we would politely request all patients wear a mask on entry to the practice and sanitise their hands.

If you have no mask then we can provide one for you. We are an independent family run practice based in Abergele and Llangefni along the North Wales Coast.
Services
At Allport Opticians we are pleased to be able to offer the Welsh Eye Health Examination for patients who may be at greater risk of eyes disease and for patients who experience sudden eye problems.
Mr Allport is an accredited Optometrist who is also able to offer Low Vision Assessments through the Low Vision Service Wales.
Unfortunately in some cases spectacles alone are unable to provide enough help and extra help from a magnifying aid is required.
The Low Vision Service Wales is able to supply a variety of magnifiers from simple hand magnifiers through to sophisticated electronic magnifiers with both the assessment and any required aids being funded by the Welsh Government.
Perhaps you have a sporting or leisure activity that would be more enjoyable when wearing contact lenses.
As a contact lens practice we are able to fit and supply almost anyone with contact lenses, regardless of prescription.
We also supply lenses to correct astigmatism and progressive lenses that are similar to varifocal spectacle lenses.
So, you no longer have to be under 40 to benefit from contact lenses.
Regular aftercare appointments are essential for maintaining the health and comfort of your eyes.

Concerned about macular degeneration?
What is the macular?
It is the area at the back of the eye that is responsible for our detailed vision.
It contains millions of cells and requires a large amount of nutrients to function plus a system to break up and dispose of the waste products.
What is Macular Degeneration?
When these cells cease to function, slowly but surely we lose our detailed vision.
It has a variety of causes but when associated with age it is referred to as age related macular degeneration or AMD as people often call it.
If you have any questions regarding eyecare or your visual health, don't hesitate to contact me using our contact form.
