Services
Gillie Opticians offer NHS and private eye examinations, many people are now entitled to free sight tests under the NHS and they may also qualify for help with the cost of their glasses.
To understand if you are entitled under the NHS, please see notes below or contact us.
We will be pleased to discuss things through with you.
You're 40 or over, and your mother, father, brother, sister, son or daughter has been diagnosed with glaucoma.
You're eligible for an NHS complex lens voucher - your optometrist (optician) can advise you about your entitlement.
An eye examination should be part of everyone's normal health routine and is an important part of looking after your eyes.
You may think of this as just an eye test, but it's more than a simple test of your sight.
Your optometrist is able to check your eye health and other general health issues during an eye examination and give advice.
Most people should have their eyes examined every two years, however you may need to have an examination more often depending on your age and medical history.
If you are over 40 years old or at particular risk of developing eye conditions such as glaucoma, your optometrist will recommend how regularly you need to have an eye examination.
Regular eye examinations are essential - both to ensure you have clear, comfortable vision, but also to monitor the health of your eyes and potentially find indications of other medical conditions.
At Gillie Opticians the eye examination starts with a pre-test which includes using some specialist equipment to check certain aspects of your eyes and your vision.
The team also use a special digital retinal camera (one of the most advanced in the area) which plays an important role in the early diagnosis and prevention of many eye conditions, by photographing the back of the eye.
We are pleased to offer OCT scanning using one of the latest Zeiss instruments.
We can image structures within the layers of the retina under great magnification.
This enables us to confirm diagnosies or for example to differentiate between wet and dry macular changes.
An OCT scan is different from an eye photograph that is sometimes taken by doctors' diabetic clinics or other opticians.
The OCT scan is able to examine eye health below the eye's surface, is very quick to perform and is completely painless and non-invasive.
Glasses can transform your look, update your image and even affect your overall attitude.
They are no longer just a necessity for those with sight issues, but a must-have accessory or fashion statement.
We offer a wide assortment of spectacles for all, in numerous styles and prices ranges so everyone can discover the perfect pair.
Let Gillie Opticians help with a new stylish look today.
There's a great selection of glasses for women so it's easy to find a fabulous pair regardless of age, face shape or budget.
