After graduating with a 1st class degree from Bradford University in 1978, Mrs Richardson finished her training at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London in 1979. Having worked for a variety of independent opticians mixed with some hospital work, Mrs Richardson took over from Cliff Wilks when he retired from Second Sight in 2004, having worked with him for the previous 10 years.

Her areas of special interest include Low Vision, and she has a good relationship with Sutton Vision, a local charity providing low vision services in the community. Since taking over Second Sight Mrs Richardson has concentrated on maintaining the excellent customer service and value offered previously, while investing in the latest equipment. A complete shop fit in 2013 incorporating new display units was undertaken.

Being registered with the Sutton and Merton NHS means Mrs Richardson can provide service to adults with learning difficulties. This new role has proved to be very rewarding. Domiciliary Home visits in the Sutton NHS area can also be provided for clients who are housebound for medical reasons.
