Mirage Opticians
Mirage Opticians was established in 1992 by Dilesh Patel, BSc, MCOptom, offering a high standard of professional optical care to his many patients. His practice in Pitshanger Lane underwent a complete refit in 2008. The SPECTRALIS 4D HD Eye Health Check uses a patented eye-tracking system that allows the opticians to identify those at risk of eye disease more easily.

The tracking system allows the 3D scan to be placed in exactly the same place at each visit, giving a true 4D view of change over time. This helps to reveal eye disease which may not yet be noticeable by the patient or detectable with a traditional eye exam.
Services
Mirage offers continuity of care - from start to finish.
When you visit the practice it is a qualified optometrist who conducts your eye test, dispenses and fits your glasses or contact lenses.
Mirage holds most designers frames in stock and our experienced friendly staff will be happy to help choose frames to suit your budget.
You choose your new frames in your own time, without pressure or sales talk.
At Mirage, we provide a thorough eye examination using the latest technology and equipment.
An eye appointment is usually half hour.
You may need to come back for further checks as suggested by the optometrist.
Should you need glasses, we will discuss the type of lens - single vision, varifocal or computer to reading lens.
We stock a wide range of frames to suit all budgets.
The majority of lenses we supply are from Rodenstock.
Technological advances mean that contact lenses choices are numerous and easy to wear depending on your needs.
We supply and fit lenses from a range of companies.
Modern contact lenses are very safe providing you follow the optometrist's advice on aftercare and have regular check ups to assess the health of the eyes.
If you would like to try contact lenses, please contact us on 020 8566 8750 or come into the practice for an informal discussion.
Ortho-K or Orthokeratology is a way of wearing contact lenses overnight to correct your vision during the day.
Regular eye checks are recommended for all children from the age of four or earlier if parents feel there is a problem.
If your child doesn't recognize the letters of the alphabet, we use different techniques to detect visual problems.
We provide NHS sight tests for all children under the age of 16 and under 19 providing they are in full time education.
All children under 16 should have an annual sight test.
There is some help available through the NHS optical voucher system which can help towards the cost of glasses or contact lenses.
As we get older our eye sight changes, most people will need glasses or contact lenses.
We are also more likely to develop eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma and age related macular degeneration.
At Mirage Opticians, we recommend regular sight tests.
It is crucial to check the health of the eyes as certain eye diseases can be detected such as glaucoma and cataracts.
We also recommend an OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) screening to check the health of the eyes.
You can have a free NHS sight test every two years if you are over 60 and a free sight test if you are over 70.
