Since then, the ethos has remained unchanged yet the practice has evolved. From the outset, specialist clinical services have been available in ocular surface disease, visual stress and advanced contact lenses. As the evidence base for the management of myopia (short sight) progression has grown significantly a myopia management clinic was introduced in 2017.

2020 marked further evolution. With advanced instrumentation and in collaboration with experienced Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Mr Thomas Ressiniotis the practice can now manage an increased range of ocular conditions both medically and surgically. I am currently appointed as a Specialist Clinical Optometrist at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

My specialist clinical interests centre on dry eye, contact lenses, myopia control and community Ophthalmology. Away from optometric work you will find me in Snowdonia, the English Lake District on either foot or two wheels. If I am on holiday I will be more than likely on a high altitude mountaineering expedition.
Services
The myopia management clinic was introduced as a result of the increasing body of evidence that exists with the use of specialist contact lenses in short sighted (myopic) children.
Specifically, certain types of multifocal contact lenses and Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) have been shown to reduce the rate of lengthening in the myopic eye of children in a number of studies.
The management of myopia will undoubtably become increasingly important as the prevalence of myopia increases across the world.
Imagine a vision correction that works while you sleep.
Imagine waking up to clear, comfortable vision in the morning, without the need to wear specs or contact lenses during the day.
Well, imagine no more.
EyeDream, a form of orthokeratology (ortho-k), corrects your vision while you sleep.
Simply remove the custom lenses upon waking and enjoy a world of clear, natural vision throughout the day.
EyeDream is safe and effective and has transformed the lives of thousands of people accross the world.
Our contact lens ethos is a simple one.
To fit contact lenses that result in the optimum blend of both comfort and visual performance whilst maintaining excellent ocular health for the patient.
The tear film which is responsible for keeping the eye moist and lubricated is also evaluated using a range of techniques.
Base line symptoms of dryness are evaluated and recorded using specialist questionnaires and grading systems.
This permits early detection of ocular surface change thereby keeping patients comfortable in their lenses long term.
